SPACE is located at 1245 Chicago Ave. in Evanston, Illinois, just north of Chicago. We are one building south of the Dempster St./Chicago Ave intersection. SPACE shares an entrance with Union Pizzeria; the venue is located straight down the hallway past Union’s host stand.
SPACE can easily be reached via public transportation and driving.
CTA: The Dempster St. stop on the Purple Line will put you just ½ block west of the Dempster/Chicago intersection.
Metra: Either the Main St. or Davis St. stop will put you about 5 blocks from SPACE.
Car: Please click here for driving directions. Simply enter your start location. See our parking section if you plan to drive.
Cabs: Ride share services (Lyft, Uber) are generally readily available outside of SPACE following performances. North Shore Cab (Evanston) can also be reached at 847.864.7500.
Out-of-towners: please note that Chicago Ave. in Evanston is very different from Chicago Ave. in Chicago.
Our box office is open any evening we have a show from 5pm-9pm. No-fee tickets are available for purchase in-person only.
The venue itself opens to ticketed customers at the show’s listed door time—generally one hour before the show starts. On nights with two shows (7pm and 10pm), doors for the early show open one hour before showtime and doors for the late show open 30 minutes before showtime. Please check the individual event listing/ticketing page to confirm.
For Union Pizzeria’s hours, please click here.
Please note that not all tickets guarantee seats. Seating varies show by show, so pay attention to the event listing and the description of the seating level when purchasing. Descriptions are clearly marked under the ticket type on Eventbrite.
A seating chart is located here. (Note: the layout and number of seats may change depending on the show’s production needs.)
For ADA accessibility, please visit our ADA Accommodations section.
Reserved Table Seat: Guarantees one seat at a cabaret table. Every individual in your party needs a ticket in that section in order to sit at your table. If you see only 1 ticket in the dropdown via Eventbrite, only 1 ticket remains for that table.
Tables in the front row (11-15) seat 5 individuals. If you purchased less than 5 seats, you will be sharing a table with other patrons. Tables in the back four rows (21-45) seat 4 individuals. Table seats are held until one hour after the start time of the show.
GA Limited Seating: Ticket guarantees access to the concert, but does not guarantee a seat. Seating is available on a limited, first-come, first-served basis. If seating is absolutely necessary to you, please purchase a reserved table seat.
GA Seated: Guarantees a chair, but no table. Seats for this section are guaranteed until showtime.
GA Dance Floor or Standing Room Only: Absolutely no seating. Please do not purchase a ticket in these sections if you will be unable to stand for the duration of the show.
How do I purchase tickets? Tickets can be purchased one of three ways: (1.) Online at any time (2.) By calling our main line (847.492.8860) and pressing option 2 during normal business hours (10am-4pm). (3.) By visiting our box office on show evenings from 5pm-9pm. Purchasing in-person at our box office waives online service fees.
Am I able to transfer my tickets? SPACE allows ticket transfers under very special circumstances only. Please call us to arrange a ticket transfer. You will need your first and last name, order number and the name of the individual to whom you’re transferring the tickets.
Note: Ticket transfers must be made at least 48 hours before showtime. Transfers are NOT available for sold out shows.
Can I get a refund? All tickets are non-refundable.
I have extra tickets. What do I do? SPACE does not get involved in the resale of tickets. Guests with extra tickets are welcome to try and sell them outside of the building. If you’re looking to give away extra tickets, please try posting in the Facebook event page (Keyword search: “Artist Name” at Evanston SPACE).
I lost my hard-copy tickets. What do I do? As long as you provided your first and last name online or in-person at our box office, we will be able to look you up in our system and check you off electronically on the night of the show. Please bring a valid ID, as it must match the name on the tickets.
What time does the show start? Please see the show’s event listing/ticketing page for door and show times.
Is there an opening act? If there is a support act, it will be listed on the event page: "Headliner with Support Act"
How long will the band play? Set times vary per band/artist, but support artists generally play approximately 35-40 minutes. Headlining artists generally play 75 minutes or more.
An artist announced a show but I don't see it on your website. How do I buy tickets? In rare instances, an artist or band will announce a show before it's listed on SPACE's website. Please follow us on social media (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) and join our newsletter—these are the first places we announce new shows and provide on-sale dates.
If a show is listed as SOLD OUT on our website, we will not be releasing more tickets online. Please check the show’s Facebook event page, as sometimes individuals with extras post there.
In rare occasions, we do release additional tickets at the door, but we won’t do so until after the show has started due to capacity and fire code standards. If you live in the area, you’re welcome to stop by and check in with our box office staff, but there are no guarantees.
We do not keep a waitlist.
Never purchase your tickets via third-party broker sites like Craigslist or Stubhub. SPACE sells exclusively via Eventbrite. If there is an issue with a ticket purchased via other outlets, you will need to reach out to the person who sold you the ticket or to your credit card company.
Gift certificates to SPACE are available through SwipeIt here.
Gift certificates must be redeemed in-person at our box office, and can be used towards tickets and drinks at our bar.
When purchasing drinks, please inform your server that you’ll be using a gift certificate at the time you place your order.
Gift certificates are not redeemable at Union Pizzeria, as we are two separate businesses.
SPACE has a full bar with an exciting array of cocktails and an extensive beer list. While we do not serve food in our venue, customers are welcome to bring in pizza from Union, the restaurant located in front.
Please note, Union does not take reservations.
For additional questions about Union, please visit their website.
There is plenty of metered parking along both Dempster St. and Chicago Ave., and meters do not need to be fed after 9pm.
There is also a small public garage with metered spots directly across the street from SPACE. Please obey any posted signs such as “No Parking” or “Permit Parking Only.” There’s nothing worse than ending your night of music with a trip to Lincoln Towing.
Valet is available for SPACE and Union customers every Friday and Saturday from 5:30pm until midnight. Valet is handled independently by Five Star Valet. Please reach out to them directly with any questions or concerns related to valet parking.
Photography is allowed during most performances at SPACE, but flash is not permitted.
We also request that our patrons respect the experience of those around them and refrain from blocking anyone’s view or recording for extended periods of time.
Unless otherwise indicated, all SPACE shows are all ages. Children under 2 years old do not require a ticket.
If a show is 18+ or 21+, it will be clearly listed on the event page.
