Dave Specter

Blues fest week at SPACE kicks off with a very special episode of Dave Specter's Adventures in Guitar series featuring one of Chicago's finest bluesmen, John Primer.

A veteran of the bands of two of the most important and influential figures in Chicago blues history: Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon, John Primer's sound is rooted in the classic Windy City  sound of decades past: rough-edged and uncompromising and satisfying in the extreme. He's one of the last real-deal bluesmen in town. A Mississippi native who moved to Chicago in 1963, John has held long stints at legendary Chicago clubs such as Theresa's and the Checkerboard Lounge as well as spending 13 years with Magic Slim and the Teardrops.

Dave Specter's Adventures in Guitar series, which has been running at SPACE for the past two years plus, has featured some truly memorable and electrifying moments with some of the finest guitarists in blues and jazz including Jimmy Johnson, Lurrie Bell, Jeff Parker, Steve Freund, Billy Flynn, Nick Moss etc.

Dave recorded his ninth album "Spectified" at the LOCM recording studios behind SPACE and has recently taken his blues-drenched guitar sounds to Hawaii, Switzerland and Germany and will be performing in France and Argentina later this year. Dave will also be featured at this year's Chicago Blues Festival as part of a tribute to the legendary guitarist Hubert Sumlin.

Fans of tough and traditional Chicago blues guitar will not want to miss this special show.

"Primer is a modern day electric Chicago blues master. He has played with the best of them and now he is one of them."

-Living Blues

"Specter's ninth album "Spectified" confirms his status as one of the few top-tier guitarists"
