Paul Sanchez

Paul Sanchez

Paul Sanchez is a cat with eight lives used up and he's damn glad to be here.

Paul is a troubadour born in New Orleans, literally across the street from the Mississippi River in Sara Mayo Hospital. He was raised by his widowed mother along with ten brothers and sisters.

Paul is a storyteller, his own as well as ours. He is a student and a teacher. A traveler that finds home in different faces every night.

He appears in season one of the new HBO series, TREME, episode 4 which is titled after a song he wrote with long time collaborator, John Boutte'. John and Paul appear in the episode singing the song, Foot Of Canal Street. Sanchez, along screen writer Colman deKay, just released a musical adaptation of Dan Baum's book, Nine Lives, a New York times Best Seller. Nine Lives is the story of New Orleans in the forty years between Hurricane Betsy in 1965 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005 , as seen through the eyes of nine New Orleanians.
